The Most Effective Sniper Rifle in Call of Duty: Warzone

The popular battle royale game Call of Duty: Warzone has taken the world by storm. Like many of its peers, winning Warzone requires skilled and strategic game play. Unlike other battle royales though, it’s incredibly open map makes snipers an important part of the game’s meta.

Gunfights work differently in Warzone and regular COD game modes due to two reasons: the addition of armor and the increased range that gunfights often happen at. As a result, not only is damage an important factor, but bullet velocity and scope zoom become larger factors to consider. At the same time, movement speed and aim down sight speed become less important.

However, you should not look just to find the best sniper to max out those gun stats when creating a class in Warzone. You must tailor the weapon you use to your play style. Are you an aggressive player who tends to push other teams and take on multiple opponents at once? Or are you the kind of player who choses to sit back on roof tops and pick players off as the gas moves in. Regardless, there are four sniper rifles you must consider, the Kar98K, the AX-50, the HDR, and the Rytec AMR.

Kar98K

The Kar98K is undoubtedly the best sniper for quick scoping in regular game modes of COD. After its most recent buff, its incredible aim down sight speed and high damage makes it lethal at close and mid ranges. In Warzone, it has the ability to one shot headshot an opponent at any range, but where it really dominates is in mid-ranged fights. Before the Kar hits its damage drop off, it can one shot an opponent to the upper body while they have one armor plate on. No other sniper can do that.

In addition, it has a relatively fast rate of fire, allowing you to potentially down multiple enemies before they can even locate you. And unlike the other snipers on this list, it is still a viable weapon in close range or indoor fights. However it does have its limitations. It has a relatively slow bullet velocity and damage drop off making it not very useful in long range fights. Unless you can hit headshots of course. If you chose to run the Kar98K, the best attachments are:

AX-50

The AX-50 one of the deadliest weapons in the game. It is often over shadowed by the more powerful HDR, but the AX-50 has its own advantages that can make it worth using. It has a one shot head shot ability to a fully armored opponent at any range. Its standard scope has the highest zoom on of any rifle in the game. It cycles through rounds faster than the HDR, but more slowly than the Kar and the Rytec. All of this comes with the second best bullet drop off in the game.

The AX-50 is primarily a long ranged weapon though. It does not have the stellar mid range capabilities that the Kar, or even the Rytec, have. However, if you are looking for a more mobile, better scoped, and faster firing version of the HDR, this weapon is for you. The attachments you should use when running it are:

  • Tac Suppressor
  • 32.0” Factory Barrel
  • Variable Zoom Scope
  • Singuard Arms Marksman
  • Presence of Mind

HDR

The best HDR Warzone setup | PCGamesN

The most powerful weapon in the game. The HDR is a weapon that will melt through your enemies armor at any range. It has barely any damage drop off, and the bullet velocity is so fast that its bullet drop is almost unnoticeable. What it lacks in mobility it makes up in power and can be a very deadly weapon for anyone looking to dominate the long range gunfights.

This gun isn’t without its drawbacks though. It has one of the slowest rates of fire in the game, paired with a longer reload time than the AX-50. The HDR also does not scope in as far as the AX-50 with its stock scope. All of this combined makes it harder to kill multiple opponents before they get cover. Its extreme power still makes it an excellent choice for the roof top camper though. When using the HDR, you should use:

  • Monolithic Suppressor
  • 26.9″ HDR Pro
  • Thermal Sniper Scope
  • Presence of Mind
  • FTAC Stalker-Scout

Rytec AMR

How to unlock the Rytec AMR Sniper Rifle in Call of Duty: Modern ...

The newest sniper to come out in season 4, the Rytec is the most unique out of this list. It is a 50 BMG, semiautomatic rifle based on the Barrett. Similarly to the crossbow, the Rytec can take both incendiary rounds and explosive rounds. The explosive rounds especially can dominate in mid-ranged fights, and can take out enemy vehicles better than any other sniper in the game. These also help when an enemy is hiding right behind a corner, as they can take the place of grenades. Quite possibly its most overlooked feature though, is that is does not have a damage drop off like every other weapon.

The Rytec does not come without its flaws though. It has an insanely high recoil, a long reload time, and is arguably the least accurate of all the guns on this list. It also has the lowest bullet velocity, giving it a bullet drop that makes long-ranged fights near impossible. However, its biggest flaw of all is that it is the only weapon on this list that cannot one shot headshot a fully armored opponent to the head (though Infinity Ward says it should get buffed soon). If you chose to run this weapon in Warzone, you should use:

  • FTAC Seven Straight
  • Tac Laser
  • Variable Zoom Scope
  • Stippled Grip Tape
  • 25x59mm Explosive 5-R Mag

We hope this list of the best snipers to use in Call of Duty: Warzone helped. Once you decide whether or not you want to focus on mid-ranged or long-ranged fights, try out both snipers and see which one best works for you.
